I thougt it was about time i wrote something about World of Warcraft again since it has been a while. Now the first problem is, i don’t know what to write about, the second, i don’t play very much right now except for raids so i really don’t have anything to write about but i will try anyways.
One thing is that the itemization team on average seems to be one patch behind the class designers, items for many classes looks perfect except for the fact that the classes have been changed so the items loooks perfect from a “last patch” point of view. It’s not fun looking at the drops in a new raid and realise that most of the items that you really want are of a different armor class then the one your class uses. For holy paladins a large part of BiS items are mail, for Resto shamans lots of plate/cloth times have BiS stats. Disc priests have a lot of BiS items with hitrating that still is a lot better for them then any item made for healing. To make it even worse plate healing gear is mostly itemized in a way that would fit rather good on Disc priests but is horrible for holy paladins making it so that the only class that might want to use it can’t. Sharding gear that should be large uppgrades due to bad itemization feels horrible and trying to fit your gear set around 1-2 horrible items makes it extreamly hard to get the items you want in to it. It’s also never fun to try to explain to your raidleader and cloth users why a mail/plate class should have the same right to cloth gear as a cloth class and it’s not really resonable but using subpar gear untill all the cloth users that wants it has it is all so a big downer. Same goes for plate dps where in many cases leather still is BiS. While i understand that Blizzard doesn’t want us to get items in the first raid tier that is perfectly itemized it would be nice if they didnät just take your perfect piece and turn it in to leather or cloth and then expect people to not go for it. And there is a big difference between a perfeclty itemized piece of gear and really and piece of gear. You can easily have diffrent balance of the perfect stats on a piece or exchange one of the “perfect” stats for a less desirable stat but exchanging the moste important stat on a perfect item for a less desirable stat and then making a “perfect” item of another armorclass will in most cases result in people going for the item of other armorclass instead of the bad piece, especialy if the perfect or close to perfect item can be bought from badges and guaranteed if both items are bought. Noone will buy a bad item if a perfect item can be bought for the same price, especially when the bad item is of a lower level and is a part of a set with a bad setbonus no one cares about.
